Several of Corfu’s distinguished private gardens, including several featured in Gardens of Corfu, will be open to the public on Saturday September 22 from 9 am to 2 pm.
Across the island, about 15 gardens large and small, old and new, contemporary and traditional, will be open to visitors in the first local event of its kind. The event will provide opportunities to share gardening experiences and get ideas on garden design and cultivation, as well as to make new friends among garden enthusiasts you might not otherwise meet.
To answer visitors' practical gardening questions, agricultural technologist Eugenia Vitouladiti and fruit tree expert Dimitris Kontos will be available at San Stefano Estate, near Benitses.
The event will be free to visitors. At some of the gardens, refreshments will be available for a small charge.
A downloadable brochure, being prepared, will list the open gardens along with a map that will help visitors to plan their tours independently and navigate from one garden to the next.
